Karl Mauracher, one of the first Austrian organ builders, brought the song from Oberndorf in Salzburg, where it premiered in 1818, to Fügen. The "Rainer Sänger" from Fügen included the song in their repertoire. With their songs they inspired the royal highnesses of the West as well as the tsars of the Russian Empire and travelled around the world in colourful costumes on great tours. Today “Silent Night, Holy Night” is sung in over 230 languages and is probably the most famous Christmas Carol in the World.
